The Kyushu Region

The Kyushu Region lies at the southwestern end of Japan and is made up of seven prefectures: Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima.

Known as the gateway to Japan, Kyushu has long been a crossroads of cultures, where influences from the Asian continent blended with local traditions to create something uniquely its own. It was here that early trade and foreign ideas first arrived, and where pivotal moments—from the introduction of Christianity to the opening of Japan’s ports—reshaped the nation’s history.

Kyushu is a land of striking contrasts: steaming volcanic landscapes and lush green valleys, vibrant modern cities and quiet rural villages. From the active crater of Mount Aso to the historic streets of Nagasaki and the relaxing hot springs of Beppu, the region offers an experience as warm and welcoming as its climate.
